Neha Kakkar was born in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. She is the younger sister of playback singer Sonu Kakkar. One of her two brothers, Tony Kakkar, is also a singer. She grew up in Delhi and studied at New Holy Public School, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi. When Neha participated in Indian Idol Season 2, She was a student of class 11. Neha Kakkar was passionate about music since early childhood. She started singing when she was only four years old.

television reality show Indian Idol in 2006 and was a judge on the tenth
season of the same show i.e. Indian Idol 10. She also appeared in
Comedy Circus Ke Taansen in 2014 on Sony TV. She had judged a singing
reality show on Zee TV named Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs.
In 2008,
Neha launched her own first album, Neha-The Rock Star and the music was
composed by Meet Bros. She had worked in songs “Sunny Sunny” from movie
Yaariyan, “Manali Trance” from movie The Shaukeens, “Aao Raja” with
singer Yo Yo Honey Singh from movie Gabbar is Back, “Dhating Naach” from
movie Phata Poster Nikala Hero, “London Thumakda” from movie Queen,
“Dilbar” from movie Satyameva Jayate, “Hanju” (Album) with singer
Meiyang Chang, and “Patt Lainge” (Album) with singer Gippy Grewal.

On 21 October 2020, she announced her Roka with Rohanpreet Singh by sharing a video clip of the Roka ceremony on Instagram. On 22 October 2020, while sharing a photo on Instagram, she captioned it the day when Rohanpreet Singh proposed to her. Neha got married to Rohanpreet Singh on Saturday, 24 October 2020 in a private ceremony in Delhi.
