Neha Kakkar was born in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. She is the younger sister of playback singer Sonu Kakkar. One of her two brothers, Tony Kakkar, is also a singer. She grew up in Delhi and studied at New Holy Public School, Uttam Nagar, New Delhi. When Neha participated in Indian Idol Season 2, She was a student of class 11. Neha Kakkar was passionate about music since early childhood. She started singing when she was only four years old.

Neha Kakkar (born 6 June 1988) is an Indian singer. She competed on season 2 of the television reality show Indian Idol in 2006 and was a judge on the tenth season of the same show i.e. Indian Idol 10. She also appeared in Comedy Circus Ke Taansen in 2014 on Sony TV. She had judged a singing reality show on Zee TV named Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs.

In 2008, Neha launched her own first album, Neha-The Rock Star and the music was composed by Meet Bros. She had worked in songs “Sunny Sunny” from movie Yaariyan, “Manali Trance” from movie The Shaukeens, “Aao Raja” with singer Yo Yo Honey Singh from movie Gabbar is Back, “Dhating Naach” from movie Phata Poster Nikala Hero, “London Thumakda” from movie Queen, “Dilbar” from movie Satyameva Jayate, “Hanju” (Album) with singer Meiyang Chang, and “Patt Lainge” (Album) with singer Gippy Grewal.

Neha was first seen in Indian Idol 2, which was won by Late Sandeep Acharya. At the age of 4, she started singing bhajans and aartis at religious events. Her “SRK Anthem” song became viral on youtube. She launched her debut album “Neha – The Rock Star” in 2008 with music by Meet brothers. She along with Daler Mehndi and Indian Ocean band’s Rahul Ram sung the national anthem at the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). Her song “Sunny Sunny” with Yo Yo Honey Singh from the film “Yariyaan” was a huge hit. Her brother, Tony Kakkar has given music in films like Creature 3D, Prague, and Hanju. In December 2018, she broke up with her long-time boyfriend Himansh Kohli. She also shared an emotional post on her Instagram account about her breakup with him. Post her break-up with Himansh Kohli, she had opened up about suffering from depression through her Instagram stories and wrote,
Yes I am in Depression. Thanks to All the Negative people in the world. You’re successful in giving me the worst days of my life.” She also said, “bcz of One Person or two, it’s coz of the World who’s not letting me Live my personal life.”
On 21 October 2020, she announced her Roka with Rohanpreet Singh by sharing a video clip of the Roka ceremony on Instagram. On 22 October 2020, while sharing a photo on Instagram, she captioned it the day when Rohanpreet Singh proposed to her. Neha got married to Rohanpreet Singh on Saturday, 24 October 2020 in a private ceremony in Delhi.
